Owner, Sorum Financial Services
I started in the financial services business at the ripe old age of 18 with a desire to follow in my dad’s footsteps.
It was during winter of my freshman year at Luther College that I took the Series 7 securities exam and passed it. That summer, I came back to Lebanon, transferred to Miami University to finish up my business degree, while working full time with Lutheran Brotherhood (a fraternal financial services company). This allowed me to get my feet wet in the business working with clients while also earning the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr. PA. (cont. - scroll to the next slide)
I had always been the type of person that was determined not to follow in his dad’s footsteps. This wasn’t anything against my dad; I simply wanted to walk my own path. However, after years of watching my father have a positive impact on his clients’ lives while treating them with the utmost respect and conducting business in an ethical way, I knew I HAD to be in financial services! I came to that conclusion two years ago and haven’t looked back. Since then, I have taken and passed the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials exam and have earned my Ohio life and health insurance and Ohio property and casualty insurance licenses. I have also added a personal wealth management minor to my studies in college.
